Adult Family Care (also known as Adult Foster Care or AFC) is a MassHealth-funded program that pays family members, or non-related caregivers, to care for a loved one at home with a developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disability.
Eligibility (Person Receiving Care):
• Must have MassHealth
• May be age 16+ if the caregiver is not the legal guardian
• Requires assistance with activities of daily living (such as dressing, eating, bathing)
Caregivers Receive:
• Tax-free monthly stipend
• Support from a dedicated, multidisciplinary team
• 24/7 on-call support
AFC is an open-referral program, meaning ANYONE can inquire about joining
