KEYNOTE: The Revolution of Brain Injury: There’s No Place Like Home. Janet Williams, MSW, PhD: Founder and CEO, Minds Matter LLC. This presentation explores the transformative model of care that shifts brain injury recovery from the professional in charge to the person in charge; from institutions to independence, right where people live. This approach has proven that healing and quality of life are best achieved in a person’s own home and community. Grounded in the values of advocacy, person centered goals, inclusion, community and creativity, this model emphasizes functional therapy, environmental adaptations, and natural supports that honor each person’s goals and dignity. Participants will discover how home- and communitybased services not only improve outcomes but also save systems significant costs. This a movement to ensure every person with a brain injury has the opportunity to live, work, and play in their own home and neighborhood.
