Webinar, September 17th, 2026, with the Associaton for Autism and Neurodiversity in Watertown, MA. This session will cover recent research advances related to suicide prevention for the Autistic community from studies conducted in partnership with Autistic people.
* The session will explore findings from interviews with Autistic adults, family members, and professionals, as well as key concepts from an educational program for community organizations.
* The presenter will encourage participants to think broadly about suicide prevention and how Autistic people can be better supported, rather than waiting to respond to crisis moments.
About the speaker: Anne V. Kirby, is an occupational therapist and researcher with expertise in autism. Her research has spanned topics including understanding autistic people’s sensory experiences, transitions to adulthood, and suicide risk and prevention. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland. Dr. Kirby is a principal investigator with the Academic Autism Spectrum Partnership in Research and Education (AASPIRE), a longstanding autism community-based participatory research group.

1. Participants will learn about influences on suicidality and suicide prevention needs specific to the autistic community.
2. Participants will gain insights from key aspects of a research-based educational program for suicide prevention.
3. Participants will consider how to integrate a broad understanding of suicide risk and prevention into their ongoing work.
