Virtual Group, April 14th & 15th, 2026, with the Statewide Director for Vision and Vision Loss Services at the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). A monthly virtual Caregiver Support Group for anyone working with adults served by DDS who have Vision Impairment, Legal Blindness or Deafblindness.
April Topic: Visual Arts Without Vision: Creating accessible art-based opportunities for individuals.
Guest Speaker: Melanie Rose-Zagwyn, Artist Educator and Art Director, New England Villages, Inc.
* In this session, you will learn methods for inviting individuals with vision loss to express themselves through the arts.
* Capturing all levels of skill and resources, Melanie will share her art studio philosophy, best practices, art tools and techniques which help make creativity accessible for individuals with vision loss.
* Included will be tips on how to modify/adapt existing tools or utilize budget-friendly methods to execute process-based creativity.
* Attendees don’t need to have arts experience.
